File Storage & Collaboration

Stony Brook University provides file storage of varying capacity for all students, faculty, and staff.

MySBfiles

MySBfiles is a network storage option for all students, faculty, and staff. Up to 500 MB of data can be stored in your personal MySBfiles which is backed up regularly on an automated basis by University servers. You can access your MySBfiles from on or off campus via an Internet browser.

Department Shared Folders

All designated staff in your department have access to files stored in department shared folders at any time from anywhere. Department shared folders are stored on a University server so files are not affected if your computer crashes or is stolen. Folders are allocated 1 GB of space by default.

SharePoint

SharePoint provides document sharing, group collaboration, social networking, and Web site authoring. All of this takes place on the Web. All faculty, staff and students receive up to 100 MB of storage in their SharePoint My Site. Additional space can be requested depending what your needs are.
