Your Stony Brook NetID username and password can be found in the SOLAR System. This important identifier is used to access many of the University's computing services such as:
- Blackboard
- ResNet (Residential Networking)
- E-Mail (MySBmail)
- Online File Storage (MySBfiles)
- Computer Labs (SINC Sites)
- Wireless (Wi-Fi)
- Campus Dial-Up
- Library Databases
- Softweb
NetID Maintenance is the link in SOLAR that allows you to:
- Find out what your NetID is
- Establish and change your NetID password
- Set a security question
- Test your NetID password to make sure it is working properly
You must set a NetID security question which you will be asked whenever it is time to change your NetID password. NetID passwords expire every six months. Make sure you pick a question and answer that is easy to remember. Keep in mind that whenever you change your NetID password in SOLAR, it takes 15 minutes to take effect.
